How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Permanent laser hair removal uses a combination of light and heat to destroy hair follicles. The laser emits pulses that penetrate the skin and deactivate the follicles, preventing hair from growing.
Who can benefit from laser hair removal at Laser Time?
At Laser Time, we use diode laser technology. The diode laser emits energy at a wavelength of 808 nm and is suitable for people with skin phototypes II–IV, typically those with dark blonde, light brown, brown, or black hair and skin tones ranging from fair to olive or Mediterranean.
With diode lasers, the handpiece is in contact with the skin during treatment, ensuring effective cooling of the treated area.
What technology does Laser Time use?
We use the MeDioStar® laser, manufactured in Germany by Asclepion Laser Technologies. This device has with triple certification: ISO 13485, FDA, and CE.
The MeDioStar® is a medical-grade laser with a power of 5000W and has clinical studies proving the permanent results of the treatment.
Additionally, the MeDioStar® combines a wavelength of 808 nm (70%) with 940 nm (30%) to also target the capillaries that supply the follicles with oxygen and nutrients.
Is hair removal using MeDioStar® permanent?
Yes. Hair removal with MeDioStar® is permanent, and clinical studies confirm this.
The MeDioStar® laser emits pulses of up to 90 joules (usual settings) that permanently destroy active follicles in the anagen phase.
In practice, properly treated follicles no longer produce hair in the future.
We established that the MeDioStar® permanently destroys active follicles in the anagen phase.
However, hair naturally grows in three different stages.
Not all hairs are in the same stage at the same time, so it’s impossible to treat all follicles in a single session.
Treated hairs will not grow back, but other follicles enter the growth phase later and require subsequent treatments.
How many sessions do I need with the MeDioStar® laser?
We recommend completing 6-8 sessions and evaluating the results together with an Laser Time specialist.
You will notice a significant reduction in hair in the treated areas. Permanent hair removal is always partial — it’s never possible to remove 100% of the hairs in a given area.
Some clients are satisfied with around 80% clearance, while others consider that the treatment did not work at all if they still have a few hairs on their upper legs.
Continue sessions based on your individual needs and goals.
What is the interval between MeDioStar® sessions?
Body treatments are scheduled at intervals of 6–12 weeks.
As the treatment progresses, the interval between sessions gradually increases from 6 to 12 weeks.
You might hear our specialist say: “Book your next session when there’s enough hair to treat” — meaning when enough follicles are in the growth phase for an effective session.
When you no longer need to schedule sessions more than every 3 months, it means you’ve reached the maintenance phase and can come back whenever you feel it’s necessary.
